URSUS Mechanical Works in Włocławek has been established in 1883 and in 1984 moved into a completely new facility specialising in the manufacture of drum and disc brake systems and drawbar equipment.
Our customer base includes vehicle and agricultural equipment manufacturers in both Poland as well as international markets.

Specific products include:

• drum brake assemblies from 300-500mm dia mechanically or hydralically operated,
• disc brake assemblies,
• 3 point linkages and drawbar components (front and rear),
• tow hitches and couplings,
• handbrake lever assemblies,
• weight frame fabrications,
• adapter frames from implement attachment,
• parts of mechanical control,
• stabilizers,
• a variety of small cast steel components.

Currently we can offer production capacity and capability in these or related areas and at present our facilities comprise.

• Press shop.
• Sheet metal and plate cutting:
• hydraulic gilotine capable of handling sheet thicknees up to 16mm, width to 3000mm with a material strenght of 45kG/mm square.
• Single acting press operations:
• single-point crank presses;
  max. pressure 8000kN for cold press-work,
  max. pressure 4000kN for hot press-work,
• eccentric presses - max. pressure 1500 kN,
• hydraulic presses - max. pressure 2500 kN,
• screw presses - max. pressure 2500 kN
• Oxy-acetylene cutting to profile from sheets and plates up to 100 mm thick (maximum details size 1000x2000mm to cutting out).
• Machining.
• Turning;
• universal lathe:
  - max. turning diameter 400mm,

• multi-spindle auto-lathe for bar-stock:
  - max. bar diameter 67mm,

• Threading:
• vertical tapping machine - max. tapped hole diameter 16mm,
• thread rolling machine - max. workpiece diameter 100mm, max. thread pith 8mm, max. length of rolled thread 180mm (radially),max. length of rolled thread 2000mm (axially)
• Grinding:
• centreless grinder - max. grinding diameter 200mm, grinding wheel width (normal) 254mm,
• centre grinder - max. grinding diameter 290mm, centre spacing 630mm, max. table twist angle 8 degrees 30 minutes
• Special operations:
• vertical international broaching machine - width of work-table area 450mm, max. slide travel 1250mm, nominal force 100kN,
• work-piece spray washing stand.
• Welding:
• hand welding - gas welding, arc welding of sheets up to 25mm thick,
• semi-automatic welding of low-carbon steel in inert gas CO2,
• automatic welding with 1-4 torches simultaneously, max. lenght of the weld = 400mm, thickness of welded parts 1-15mm,
• butt welding of elements at max. area of 1600mm square,
• projection welding of low-carbon steel sheets in the thickness range 0,75 - 5,0mm and automatic welding of brake shoes,
• friction welding of elements at max. area of 500mm square.
• Heat treatment dept:
• heat treatment in protective atmosphere - annealing, hardening in water and oil, gas carbonizing, low and high tempering,
• max. overall dimensions of work-pieces 1100x900x600mm and max. weight 650kg,
• Painting dept:
• hot priming and painting with air-operated spraying, max. weight of painted work-piece 100 kg, max. dimensions 1400x800x600mm.


All work-pieces have to constain holes for conveyor suspension. The facility includes a washing station and a phosphating area.

• Plating dept;
• zinc plating suspended and drum without cyanide bath production lines,
  max. work-piece dimensions: suspended line 2600x1000x500mm, drum line up to 0,5kG,
• chromium plating white and yellow (degasification is optional),
• zinc and manganese bath phosphate coating suspended and drum production lines max. work-piece dimensions 1800x1000x700mm .

SUPPORTING ACTIVITIES

• Maintenance dept.
  In order to ensure that our machining capability is always at its optimum we have a comprehensive mainteinance department which keeps the machine tools and equipment in first class order. We can also undertake for outside clients overhaul services for their machine tools (boring machines, turning lathes, milling machines).
• Tool - room.
• To provide our customers with a complete service we have invested in a comprehensive tool room capable of:
• manufacturing of process tooling,
• manufacturing of tools: reamers, counterbores, lathe tools from tool cutters external thread rollers,
• manufacturing of measuring devices and gauges of special purpose,
• tooling renewing.

Specialized services.

• Precision steel castings.
• Precision castings made of carbon steel and alloy steel at their weight of 0,01-0,5kg (up to 1 kg if of compact design).
• Gluing room.
• Gluing of brake lining for farm tractors, vans and buses (pressure and hot gluing).
